CIS had three strong teams participating in the recent U11 season of ACSIS football, two from Lakeside and one from TK campus.

Lakeside had a great turn out of players from the onset and had fun training as a full squad each Tuesday with the help of Secondary Student Coach Quinten Doombos. With so many skillful players we worked at enhancing defense techniques and ball control.

Lakeside’s Purple Squad, coached by Judy Kay, had an exciting season of league matches each Monday and showed great improvement to their passing accuracy and attacking skills. LKS Purple U11’s went from strength to strength throughout the season achieving a higher number of draws and wins each week. The season finals at GWA resulted in two losses, two draws and three wins, with the highlight, a nail biting penalty shoot out win in the 4th place play-offs. The team finished 7th. Great team spirit from Purple Team and thanks to all parents who supported us each week and were out in force at the finals.

Lakeside’s Yellow Squad, coached by Isaac Driver, had a cracking season. The team unified quickly through early successes, and over the course of the season, each player developed their individual technical skills as well as their tactical awareness. All players began to take greater responsibility for their positional role within the team and we headed into the season finals at Turf City without having lost a single match all season. In the finals we won all five of our qualifying matches with some outstanding defensive concentration and skill, some inventive and slick playmaking in midfield, and some exceptional goals. We won our semi final in style and entered the final just as confident as the opposition. A fantastic 0:0 final whistle score highlighted the all round quality of football on the pitch at this level. The decision went straight to penalties and this time the luck was with the opposition. It was a fantastic season with enthusiastic and talented young U11 football players.

TK Campus also had a great season! All team members put in a lot of early morning effort to improve their individual skills. With the right spirit, they were able to create a great team atmosphere, where everyone supported each other on and off the field. They went into the playoffs undefeated and continued this unbeaten streak all the way through the round robin of the final tournament. The team battled hard but managed to finish 4th place overall and had a great day. Well done all!
