TK Community Supported APSN Walkathon

One of the core learning outcomes we value at CIS is our students’ participation in action and service in order to improve the community we live in. CIS TK’s partnership with their neighbours APSN (the Association for People with Special Needs) is a result of these service minded philosophy.

The first initiative of this year was the APSN Walkathon on Saturday, 19 September. ASPN community gathered at the Singapore Sports Hub to participate in the walkathon. They had an ambitious aim of setting a new world Guinness record. In conjunction with the Mid Autumn Festival celebrations, ASPN members and friends carried handmade lanterns. This was the first ever attempt in the world.

Despite the hazy weather conditions, CIS TK was present at the event with great enthusiasm. Approximately 200 CIS TK students and teachers joined APSN and supported their cause. All students, teachers and principals dressed in red CIS t-shirts completed the walkathon cheerfully. A festive mood reigned as most of the lanterns carried by CIS community were lit by the evening.
