In November, the secondary student council social committee hosted a Halloween event, Nightmare on Street 41 2.0. It was creepy and spooky as the fog and haunted house set the mood. Featuring music, food and party games, it was a great night and certainly a new experience for some.

The wait for the haunted house was a bit long, it was definitely worth it. As we entered the haunted house, the door slammed shut behind us, just like any good horror movie. We were asked to put on eye patches, to limit our peripheral vision, so that we couldn’t see anyone who was about to jump out and scare us. This really added to the spooky theme. The “scarers” themselves were nothing short of terrifying - we barely escaped!

The dance floor was busy, with people up and about dancing, eating or socialising. A smoke machine and lights were installed, and CIS’ own DJ Bøbblehead (grade 10 student, Zildjian Boon) gave us some fabulous music while students gobbled down pizza and drinks and danced the night away.

There were fun mini-games during the event, most of them including candy prizes! There was, however, one specific room that opened every so often, where you could earn the most amount of candy: the jackpot!

But at the end of the night, there was still some leftover candy. The social committee decided to give it away, but students had to earn it. Council members hid rubber ducks around the dance floor, and gave the lucky people who found them the rest of the candy!

At the end of the night, we could most definitely say that this was a memorable experience for everyone attending. A big thank you to DJ Bøbblehead, the social committee and teachers, along with everyone else involved in making this event possible and incredible.
