CIS hosted another successful First Lego League (FLL) Tournament at Lakeside campus on 4 and 5 March. More than 1,000 students, aged between 9 and 16, from local and international schools across Singapore, a team from Cambodia and another team from Shenzhen, China all gathered to share their love of robotics. FIRST (the Foundation for Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) and Lego partner to run this annual competition in order to inspire young people to pursue a career in science and technology. The organisation also offers mentor guided programmes that instill creativity and love of science and engineering.

Duck Learning was the principal sponsor in this year event, partnering with CIS and IDA labs.

This year’s theme was Trash Trek. Participating students had to think about the challenges of waste management and come up with innovative solutions to tackle them. In the first part of the FLL, students were tasked to complete a research project and present their proposed solution to the judges. The second part was the robotics competition where students had to build and program a robot using Lego, and complete missions on a challenge mat.

Lakeside and TK CIS joined the competition with two teams each. They all worked very hard, demonstrated both analytical and creative thinking, and came up with creative solutions. One of the TK teams, Fluffy Fish, was even the 2nd runner up in the Research category.

Congratulations to all CIS teams for participating in the FLL and proudly representing our school!
