With nervous apprehension for the unknown that lay ahead, 21 fit, energetic CIS teachers took on the challenges of the Spartan Race on the beautiful island of Bintan. Starting in the blazing midday heat, our teachers (divided into two teams) took to the varied obstacles that lay ahead.

Our teams waded and swam through every type of H2O imaginable, crawled through mud and sand with barbed wire just inches above their head, swung on rings, lifted boulders, climbed 6 to 9 foot walls, and leapt over fire pits as they raced. On top of all of that, they had to complete, on average, 120 burpees if they failed to complete an obstacle! All participants finished with a medal of achievement, a t-shirt to show off, huge smiles of relief and long-lasting friendships. Collectively CIS was awarded first place for both the ‘Sprint’ and ‘The Beast’. Champion people make champion teams! Congratulations CIS staff! This was Husky Pride at its finest!
