This year we piloted Winter Camp at CIS. Ms Hetty’s Winter Camp Arts and Literacy programme saw students aged 4 to 5 get the opportunity to make connections between art and literature in a meaningful, fun and engaging way.

Every day a different story was read out loud. Students used clay, paint, drama, music, drawing and writing to express themselves while making personal connections to the story.

While the timetable guided the week’s activities, there were still plenty of opportunities for students to explore creatively in their own way, with their teachers’ guidance. This allowed each child to expand their learning according to their individual needs and gave them the opportunity to experience leadership in a classroom environment. Some of the students decided to make an animation video using their artwork. This proved to be a very interesting and empowering experience driven by student interest and passion.

It is clear that Winter Camp has been a very positive and engaging experience for our students, as they used all the facilities of the school, and made new friends and memories that will last a lifetime!
