Bilingual education professionals worldwide are invited to join us as CIS hosts the 2024 International Bilingual and Multilingual Conference.

The Singapore Canadian International School is delighted to announce its inaugural Bilingual/Multilingual Education Conference, taking place on October 4th to October 5th, 2024, in Singapore. This conference will focus on the theme: "Advantages, Challenges, and Best Practices of Bilingual Education in the AI Era."

We warmly invite bilingual education professionals worldwide to join us at CIS, visit our bilingual classrooms, witness students' passion for learning, and participate in discussions with experts on navigating the challenges of bilingual education in this new era.

Keynote Speakers

Professor Joel Bellassen

Joel Bellassen, a French national, studied at Beijing Language and Culture University and Peking University from 1973 to 1975. He served as the Chief Inspector of Chinese Language at the French Ministry of Education and a doctoral tutor at the French National Institute of Oriental Languages and Cultures. Tutor of doctoral students in teaching methods, founder and first president of the French Chinese Teachers Association, and currently president of the European Chinese Language Teaching Association.

Professor Guy Trainin

Prof. Guy Trainin is a Professor of Education at the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). He focuses his research on the areas of Literacy, Innovative Learning Technologies, and Integrated Arts Education. He teaches pre-service education as well as graduate courses in field research methods, innovative learning technologies, and Arts Education research. In recent years Prof. Trainin has been studying innovative learning technologies in schools in Nebraska, South Africa, India, and China with a specific focus on mobile devices, Computer Science Education, and creativity.

Professor Tan Chee Lay

Tan Chee Lay (PhD, Oriental Studies, Cambridge University) is currently Deputy Head of Asian Languages and Cultures Academic Group at NIE, NTU. He was awarded the Young Artist Award and the Singapore Youth Award. A founding member of the multilingual Poetry Festival Singapore, he has been the judge for the Cultural Medallion, Singapore Book Prize, and SEA Write Award. A prolific writer of various genres, he has published almost 30 books of academic and creative writing.

Workshop: 40 mins per session

Requirements:

Submit the workshop abstract/proposal via the QR code link on the left.
Self-introduction: should not exceed 200 words in English or 150 characters in Chinese.
1 digital photo, passport size, 600x600 pixels (i.e. 2x2 inch at 300 DPI)
Each abstract/proposal should not exceed 400 words in English or 300 characters in Chinese. Abstract/Proposal should align with any one of the sub-themes above.
Submission due date: Before June 14, 2024

* All shortlisted workshop leaders will be informed after June 14, 2024.

* All shortlisted workshop leaders will get the workshop leader certificate.

* All shortlisted abstracts/proposals will be posted on the conference brochures.
